Julien Dionne is an Acadian-born stand-up comedian from Scoudouc, New Brunswick, who has been working both sides of the Canadian comedy scene—English and French—since 2006. After cutting his teeth in Toronto and spending two years in New York City sharpening his act alongside some of the best comics on the circuit, he built a reputation for smart, personable, highly adaptable comedy that works just as well in theatres as it does at corporate events. He has appeared at JFL42 in Toronto, Moncton’s HubCap Comedy Festival, the Cornwall Comedy Festival, the FRIGID Festival in New York, and in comedy clubs from Victoria, BC, all the way to St. John’s, NL. He’s a Canadian Comedy Award–nominated act and a go-to bilingual performer for national tours such as the Rendez-vous de la francophonie.
Fully bilingual, Julien has brought his French stand-up back to the forefront in recent years, taping French and English galas for ComediHa! in Québec City and a Juste pour rire gala presented in Edmonton, as well as selling out Zoofest in 2018 with the show “Les Acadiens ont landé à Montréal!” created with Xavier Gould. His comedy has been heard on SiriusXM and CBC Radio, and TV viewers saw him in a lead role in CBC’s historical mini-series “Canada: The Story of Us” in 2017. On top of stand-up, he has hosted his long-running podcast “The Julien Dionne Show” (formerly “The Julien Dionne Comedy Hour”) since 2014, where he talks to comedians, artists, and creators from across the country. His albums “Too Soon” (2012) and “Beginnings” (2014) are available on major platforms.
